Applications:
Tetrabutylammonium tribromide can be used as a catalyst for the preparation of O-isopropylidene derivatives of free sugars, as a reagent for the chemoselective cleavage of tert-butyldimethylsilyl (TBDMS) ethers in methanol, and as a catalyst for the electrophilic substitution of indole with different aldehydes for the synthesis of bis(indolyl)methane.
